Year in Review
The Connecticut Association for Infant Mental Health continues to be a voice for the
healthy social and emotional wellness and development of infants and young children
with their families and caregivers. 2010 brought significant activities around building
our infra-structure. Specifically in 2010 CT-AIMH:
• Signed agreement with Yale Child Study Center to provide administrative space
including email, phone, fax, and administrative assistance.
• Hired Anne Giordano to be our part time Endorsement Coordinator.
• Have a new web site up and running. Please see http://www.ct-aimh.org
o Contains information about the Competencies and Endorsement
o Highlights our upcoming trainings and links to registration and payment
• Continued to promote the Competency Guidelines through assessing training
opportunities in CT that align with the Competency Guidelines.
• Received assistance from DSS and CT Workforce Collaborative to hold
competency aligned trainings in 2011.
• Held our third Stakeholders meeting at the Graustein Memorial Fund with more
than 35 people attending.
• Honored first people who have earned Endorsement in Culturally Sensitive,
Relationship-Focused Practice to Promote Infant Mental Health®.
• Have 11 people participating in a year of Reflective Supervision with Dr. Rebecca
Shahmoon Shanok, Jewish Board of Families and Childrens’ Services, NYC.
• Completed training of CT Endorsement Exam reviewers.
• Continued to meet with the DSS/Head Start Collaboration Office Infant Toddler
Initiatives.
• Sponsored along with the Zero To Three New Haven Court Team Project a very
successful fall 2010 conference on Supporting Children in the Child Welfare
Sytem featuring Dr. Brenda Jones Harden.
• Supported Circle of Security training through Child FIRST.
• Included in workforce activity of the LAUNCH award to Wheeler Clinic for
Promising Starts in New Britain.
• Completed a working draft of our Strategic Plan. Now working on a Business
Plan.
• Continued to be part of the League of States (those states offering an endorsement
in Infant Mental Health) and 5 people attended its annual meeting in Phoenix
prior to Zero to Three NTI. Attendance was supported by Child Health and
Development Institute.
• Produced two Newsletters with assistance from Kevin Sullivan, DPH.
SAVE THE DATE – November 16 and 17, 1010, Fall Two-Day Conference at
WoodWinds in Branford, CT.
